How We Train

Fun first. Development always.

Five- and six-year-olds learn best when they're having fun, so sessions mix ball skills with small games. But this isn't just running around. Every activity teaches the habits we want our players to carry all the way to U9 and beyond.

Lots of touches

Skill work and small-sided games keep every player on the ball as much as possible, with no long lines waiting for a turn.

Two strong feet

Players trap with the foot the ball comes to and shoot with the foot the chance is on, instead of switching back to their favorite foot.

Keep it on the pitch

We teach passing to a teammate's feet and keeping it on the pitch, not the big kick. It's how good teams play, and it starts now.

Boys & Girls

Two groups, each with its own coach

Boys and girls train in separate groups limited to 20, so every player gets plenty of touches on the ball.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

Is this the same as Winter Rec?

No. Winter Rec runs session by session. FLX Futures keeps one group together from age 5 until they start U9 travel.

My child has never played. Is that okay?

Yes. Most players this age are brand new. Sessions mix ball skills and small games, with lots of touches on the ball.

Do we have to start this year, or can we wait?

You can wait. Not every player stays all the way to U9, so spots open up, and new players can join in a later winter if there's room in their group.

Does signing up now commit us to travel?

No. Travel at U9 is where the program is headed, but you decide each year.

Do we register every winter?

Yes, families register each winter.
